Description The Program in Educational Transformation at Georgetown University invites applications for a three-year, non-tenure line, renewable Assistant Professor of Teaching, with a focus on Learning & Teaching and the educational needs of emergent bilingual students, broadly conceived.
Educational Transformation is an interdisciplinary, residency-based master's degree program focusing on transformational practices in PK-12 education in the United States. Rooted in experiential learning and focused on the challenges of transforming public education, the MAET currently consists of two concentrations: Advocacy & Policy and Learning & Teaching. The successful candidate in the current search will teach within the Learning & Teaching concentration and will have expertise in the education of multilingual learners, as well as a successful track record of teacher preparation in K-12 English as a Second Language.
We are seeking a diverse faculty with a range of skills and experiences. Successful applicants will have disciplinary strengths in teaching and research, field-based experience in PreK-12 teaching, and academic or research expertise in one or more of the following: teacher preparation, strategies for engaging emergent bilinguals, and EL/ESL. . In addition to teaching within the MA program, this position will also entail clinical supervision of teacher candidates and possible participation in grant-supported work.
The MA in Educational Transformation, housed in the Georgetown University Graduate School of Arts & Sciences, is committed to both social justice within education and excellence in teaching and research. The program seeks to work at the interface of educational policy, teacher preparation, innovative technologies, and transformative leadership by ensuring that all its graduates understand the essential elements of effective instruction and the dynamics of transforming educational practices to achieve both equity and excellence in urban school environments. We take an asset-based stance toward both classroom learning and educational policy and we are committed to a faculty who are explicitly anti-racist in their pedagogy.
The projected base salary range is $73,000 - $78,000. Compensation is determined by a number of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate's individual qualifications, experience, education, skills, and certifications, as well as the University's business needs and external factors.
